Tim McGraw Emotional Traffic Tour - CountryMusicRocks

HARMAN International Industries announced that two styles of JBL®headphones designed in partnership with country music icon Tim McGraw will be available in May from the nation’s leading retailers. The JBL Artist Series headphones by McGraw are available in on-ear and in-ear styles and deliver an impressive acoustic performance at price points music lovers will find attractive.

McGraw is also the next “Hear the truth” artist for JBL, the first in a distinguished line-up of musicians to have a branded line of JBL audio gear that represents the campaign’s commitment to delivering quality products that reproduce music the way artists want it to be heard.

“Music fans today should not compromise when it comes to sound,” said Dinesh C. Paliwal, chairman, president and CEO of HARMAN. “Our partnership with Tim McGraw shows that musicians want to deliver audio products that represent and emphasize the acoustic quality they work hard to achieve. We think Tim McGraw’s fans – and any music lover – will appreciate these custom-designed headphones for a performance that faithfully delivers music the way the artist intended.”

McGraw, who has 32 No. 1 hits to his credit, said he wants his fans “to hear and experience music the way I do. I’ve teamed up with JBL to create Artist Series headphones that have been tuned to do just that. Truth is in the details, and I’m proud to bring the truth with my own series of JBL headphones.”

The McGraw “Hear the truth” campaign will include national TV, print, online and tour components to support the launch of his JBL Artist Series headphones. Additionally, JBL is an official sponsor of McGraw’s upcoming tour supporting his latest No. 1 album, Emotional Traffic.

The Tim McGraw JBL Artist Series headphones are offered in two styles:

The on-ear headphones, which rest on the listener’s ears, include a comfort headband for lengthy listening periods, such as a cross-country flight. They have a wide dynamic range and excellent bass response to deliver robust, satisfying sound. The headphones fold smartly, ideal for carrying in a backpack or briefcase. The Tim McGraw on-ear headphones are available in black or white and have a suggested retail price of $129.95.

The in-ear headphones have a closed-back design to reduce outside noise so listeners hear music clearly at lower volume levels, which is healthier for the ears. The in-ear headphones ship with three styles of swappable silicon sleeves so users can adjust for a comfortable and snug fit for long listening periods. They have a wide dynamic range and excellent bass response to deliver a rewarding experience. The in-ear headphones include a Tim McGraw-branded carrying pouch, are available in black or white, and have a suggested retail price of $49.95.

The JBL Tim McGraw Artist Series headphones will be available at select Walmart stores, Walmart.com, Guitar Center and JBL.com.

Inspirational Country Music Awards - CountryMusicRocks.net

The 17th Annual Inspirational Country Music Association’s Faith, Family & Country Awards took center stage Friday night (October 28) at Nashville’s austere Schermerhorn Symphony Center for a presentation of their annual music awards.  It proved to be an event that transformed the elegant surroundings into a hometown celebration of pink carpet arrivals, tributes to the lives of Middle Tennessee breast cancer survivors and an evening filled with memorable moments and music with inspirational meaning.   This year’s Awards were tied “with pink ribbon” by the Inspirational Country Music Association to a highly publicized humanitarian theme which benefitted the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition.

Hosted by two faces familiar to television audiences — Inside Edition’s national correspondent anchor Megan Alexander and GAC’s popular entertainment news anchor, Storme Warren, it was an inspirational night focused on the winners—and survivors.

Throughout the television taping before a live audience, a retinue of 136 breast cancer survivors was seated in a special honor section on the Schermerhorn stage. A centerpiece to the night was Ultimate World Fight Champion Rich Franklin who made a unique tribute presentation to the survivors in life –a personal message close to his own heart as the unusual and high profile “macho sport” male advocacy voice for breast cancer awareness.  A tribute to Ground Zero heroes brought an equally touching patriotic theme with performances by Lee Greenwood of God Bless The USA and Chuck Day with his self-penned I’ll Stand Up And Say So –selected as a theme of Herman Cain’s current presidential campaign.

Awards were given out in more than twenty categories that included both rising artists and a stellar array of major music industry names in a broad cross section of categories that included entertainer, artist, new artist, song, songwriter, group, duo, musician, radio, radio station, film, and television honors.

Highlights included Ricky Skaggs emotional acceptance of the prestigious Entertainer of the Year Award for 2011.  Fitting to the honor, this year of 2011 marks an amazing 50 years of performing—and a memorable 52nd anniversary of Skaggs love affair with bluegrass music—a love story that began for him at age five when he first picked-up his first mandolin back in Cordell, Kentucky. Performing a heart-stirring version of Somebody’s Prayin’it was a night of double awards for him as he also received top honors from Inspirational Country Music Award voters in the top Musician category.

“I always try to entertain folks with good clean fun and stories from my youth,” noted Skaggs in accepting the Entertainer of the Year honor. “I always try to bring the gospel message of hope in Jesus Christ to our shows as well. I think now more than ever, people all over the country need hope. I’m very thankful to have won this award. I certainly look up to all of the people in this category. They are taking the gospel out to the folks who really need to hear it. Thanks again so much. It means a lot to me,” he concluded.

Other major wins of the night included Lady Antebellum’s Hello World, in the Video category. Noted Dave Haywood of Lady A on their award:  “This was a really emotional song and definitely the most dramatic video we’ve ever made. We are honored with the recognition from the Inspirational Country Music Award voters and we just appreciate the support of our fans.  We want to give a shout out to Roman White, who directed this video and created such a powerful visual story for our song…big thanks to him as well.”

Big Machine Label Group’s rising new superstar Justin Moore proved a winner with this year’s voters with Mainstream Inspirational Country Song honors being award to If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away. “This song is a gift from God,” he noted in acknowledging  the honor. “I can’t think of a better way and a better place to win my first ever award so thank you very much and God bless you guys.”

Last Friday, Luke Bryan and The Doobie Brothers met at CMT Crossroads Stage for an amazing performance.  Its nice to hear artists sing other artist’s songs, but it is even a bigger treat when they are on stage together collaborating on each other’s music.

While The Doobie Brothers visited the country music world last week, they are now back to their old stomping ground with their new release.  Today The Doobie Brothers Live At The Greek Theatre 1982 will be released on CD and DVD through Eagle Rock Entertainment.
The rafters of Berkeley, California’s famed Greek Theater shook with rock’n’roll fervor as the final date of the final tour of hometown heroes The Doobie Brothers brought many in the crowd that night to tears.
Billed as their “Farewell Tour,” the band, guitarist/vocalist Pat Simmons, keyboardist/vocalist Michael McDonald, drummer Keith Knudson, guitarist/violinist/harmonica player John McFee, saxophonist/keyboardist/flautist Cornelius Bumpus, drummer/percussionist Chet McCracken, bassist Willie Weeks, and conga player Bob LaKind, pulled out all the stops on a set that revisited their every era.
This incredible night included the surprise return of band co-founder Tom Johnston for the final two numbers. On their biggest hit, “Listen To The Music,” original member John Hartman also joined the band as did former members Tiran Porter and Michael Hossack. It would prove to be the last onstage Doobie Brothers music for five years.
The two-hour 21-track DVD includes five bonus songs cut from the original film of the event:  “Little Darlin’ (I Need You),” “One Step Closer,” “Dependin’ On You,” “Real Love” and “”No Stoppin’ Us Now” as well as interviews with the band and its manager.
Since their self-titled debut in 1971, The Doobie Brothers have released thirteen studio albums, as well as several live albums and “Best Of” compilations. Live At The Greek Theatre 1982 is a welcome addition to their stunning musical repertoire, that captures an unforgettable celebration of their career.
