A share of credit for his current momentum certainly goes to “Red Solo Cup,” which has logged more than 15 million online views in becoming the biggest viral sensation in country music history. The song has helped propel the No. 1 album Clancy’s Tavern, which also spawned the chart-topping single “Made In America.”
Last week, on the nationally syndicated morning radio show “On-Air With Ryan Seacrest,” Toby chatted live with Seacrest about “Red Solo Cup,” who proclaimed it “THE spring break song of the year.” The host went on to say, “the song [is] such a huge cross over record. It’s taken the world by storm.” He also tweeted that it’s the official spring break anthem.
Meanwhile, his I Love This Bar & Grill restaurants continue to be well regarded, earning the Minneapolis location an ACM nomination as “Nightclub of the Year.” His recently launched signature spirit, Wild Shot Mezcal, has earned raves in its own right and deemed the number one premium mezcal in the U.S., leading growth for the category. Three-time 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards nominee Toby Keith has just the thing for thirsty St. Patrick’s Day revelers: a splash of Mexico. Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill restaurants (also nominated for the ACMs as “Nightclub of the Year”) will be serving “Swamp Water” during the upcoming holiday.
Developed by the chain’s Las Vegas-based mixologist, Swamp Water is based around Toby’s signature Wild Shot Mezcal, which is made a far cry from Ireland in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Wild Shot is distilled from 10-year-old green agave plants, and the green theme carries through to the cocktail’s final presentation, in honor of the Irish celebration. (See recipe below.)
Though the drink is designed to be served in a mason jar, exceptions might be made for red Solo cups in honor of Keith’s viral smash “Red Solo Cup,” which has him up for three awards at the April 1 ACMs. Toby will be performing on the CBS telecast, as well. Prior to the ACM Awards performance, Toby’s high profile appearances include Ellen (March 15), the Tonight Show with Jay Leno (March 16) and Chelsea Lately (March 27).

The Oklahoma-bred singer, songwriter and entertainer was named Artist of the Decade at this month’s American Country Awards on FOX, and a deeper look at the numbers offers astounding proof of his dominance.
Based on monitored radio airplay, the ACA honor recognized Keith for having the most over-the-air performances of any artist over the last 10 years. An analysis by performance rights organization BMI shows that, as an artist, Toby received more than 50 million performances between 2000 and 2010. Multi-talented comedian and actor Rodney Carrington will stay up late to host the biggest celebration of the year and ring in 2012 on AMERICAN COUNTRY NEW YEAR’S EVE LIVE airing Saturday, Dec. 31 (11:00 PM-12:30 AM ET live; CT/MT/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. Carrington, and co-hosts Rick Harrison and Austin “Chumlee” Russell of “Pawn Stars,” will help count down to 2012 during the ultimate year-end party featuring some of country’s biggest and brightest musical stars.
