Sunny Sweeney definitely knows how to entertain her fans from just a stage away!  Her performance is entertaining, interactive and completely country through & through.  Sunny has been performing all summer at festivals, fairs and is also a part of Brad Paisley’s H2O II: Wetter & Wilder Tour.  She has even shared the Water World Plaza Stage with Paisley himself.

We got the opportunity to catch Sweeney in action and enjoyed hearing her perform new music from her newly released album CONCRETE with songs such as “Amy”, “Mean As You”, “Drink Myself Single”“Worn Out Heart” as well as several others including hit single “From A Table Away” and new single “Staying’s Worse Than Leaving”.  Sunny also included several songs from her debut album Hearbreaker’s Hall of Fame including “East Pines Texas”, “If I Could”  & “Next Big Nothing” (which by the way she has played at the Grand Ole Opry 25 times at this point – so she must be something).  Also part of her set was the Waylon classic “Good Hearted Woman” which everyone enjoyed singing along.  Sunny recorded “Good Hearted Woman” earlier this year with Waylon’s widow Jessie Colter for the Waylon Jenning’s tribute album – ‘The Music Inside: A Collaboration Dedicated to Waylon Jennings, Vol. I’.  Sunny also does a fantastic rendition of “Folsom Prison Blues” which was enjoyed by all as soon as she indicated that it was next on her list to play!

If you haven’t had a chance to check out Sunny Sweeney Live in concert, be sure to add it to your “must-see-in-concert” list!  Sweeney’s tour dates can be found on her official website www.SunnySweeney.com.

Billy Currington is definitely doin’ something right when he is onstage in front of tens of thousands of people as he opens up for Kenny Chesney on the “Goin’ Coastal Tour”. Currington packs in the hits during his 60 minute set that has fans on their feet from right from the start. Kicking things off with “That’s How Country Boys Roll”, Currington rolls hit after hit giving fans an entertaining performance from beginning to end.

Currrington is a laid-back kinda guy, but his performance is anything but. He is energetic & exciting to watch as he works the entire stage, including the catwalks, and interacts with fans giving high-five’s & handshake’s all over the place. Performing his hit singles, fans sang right along to hits such as “People Are Crazy”, “Pretty Good At Drinking Beer”, “Good Direction”, and his newest single”Love Done Gone”. Fans were even treated to Hank Williams, Jr.’s well-known tune “Family Tradition” which of course was a crowd pleaser as was his strong ballad “Must Be Doin’ Something Right”. Billy Currington put on a remarkable set that served as a fantastic prelude for the evening’s main event.

CMA Radio Station of the Year – 99.5 The Wolf and Duke’s Bar & Grill once again outdid themselves by bringing in class act artist – Craig Campbell for an acoustic “low-dough” show benefiting the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.  Craig has quickly become country music’s favorite “Family Man” as his debut single made a significant impact to country radio.

Craig Campbell also makes a significant impact while performing on stage giving fans a genuine country music performance.  When Craig asked fans how many bought his debut cd, almost every hand was raised and the crowd proved it by singing along to songs such as “When I Get”, “You Probably Ain’t”, “I Bought It”, and many more.  Campbell also played a classic country medley which was a real treat to the fans.  Craig’s rich solid vocals that you hear on the radio radiated as he performed his hit single “Family Man”. It is always a great moment when fans sing an artist’s song back to them and the crowd did not let Craig down as they sang his smash hit “Family Man” right along with him.  “Fish” is Campbell’s new single that is quickly becoming a fan favorite on country radio and is definitely a crowd pleaser.  While every show must come to an end, Craig comes back and gives fans what they want – more great music!!  Campbell finalizes his encore with country classic “Fishing In The Dark” in which he appropriately blends in his current hit single “Fish” to complete the evening.  Check out some additional photos from the event by clicking HERE.

When it comes to attending a Tim McGraw show, you are always guaranteed at least one thing – a great time!! While out on his recent west coast leg of his tour, McGraw once again delivered on that guarantee and gave fans an amazing evening.

The Band Perry kicked the night off with their opening set that prepares the crowd for the evening ahead.  Singing their hits “Hip To My Heart”, “If I Die Young” and “You Lie”; Kimberly, Reid & Neil give a solid performance with fantastic stage presence.  During their short set, they really worked the stage and connected with the crowd.

Luke Bryan stepped in next with a rockin’ performance.  His personality shined throughout his entire set while he sang some new songs off his upcoming album “Tailgates & Tanlines” such as “Drunk On You” and hit song that is setting country radio on fire “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” as well as his favored hits such as “Rain Is A Good Thing”, “All My Friends Say” and a perfect performance of “Do I”.  While Luke is on the bill as a tour opener, he could have easily performed the entire night as the headliner and the crowd would have embraced it.

Tim McGraw always looks out for his fans, even the ones that aren’t sitting in a “prime” location and he starts his show for the first few songs off in the back of the venue for fans that are in the second level and grass area can get an upclose and personal look.  McGraw then makes his way to the main stage where he belts out hit after hit as well as new music from his upcoming album.  After a performance full of 2 dozen songs including “Something Like That”, “Last Dollar”, “Red Rag Top”, “Felt Good On My Lips” and many, many more; Tim closes with a 3 song encore which includes his powerful ballad “Live Like You Were Dying” that he nails with every performance.

CMA Radio Station of the Year 99.5 The Wolf in Portland, OR invited sensational duo Thompson Square to play a “low-dough” show benefiting the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.  Keifer & Shawna Thompson, who form Thompson Square, put on an amazing show which was SOLD OUT weeks prior to the event!!

Thompson Square may be new to the scene but they sure do know how to put on a show like they have been doing it for years.  The duo, whose hit song “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not” which was recently #1 on the charts, sure know how to work a crowd.  The venue was completely packed, but the stage only held Shawna, Keifer & his guitar and they completely rocked it!  The duo delivered to their fans a trifecta of solid energy throughout the show with their stage presence that was fantastic, their crowd interaction which was phenomenal and their chemistry together was captivating.  The duo sang several songs off their debut self-titled album, which was released earlier this year, but they also showed the crowd another side where both Keifer & Shawna showcased themselves separately.  Shawna completely rocked Joan Jett’s “Hate Myself For Loving You” while Keifer strongly delivered an amazing acoustic version of “She Talks to Angels”.  The duo also included a few additional musical song surprises throughout the show.

At the conclusion of the show, Savannah Jones of 99.5 The Wolf, asked Keifer “Well, are you gonna kiss her or not???!!!”  As you can see from the photo, Keifer was more than happy to oblige!!

If you have not picked up Thompson Square’s debut self-titled album, you definitely should – you will NOT be disappointed.  You may only know their hit single now, but as you listen to their whole album, you will see that there are many more great singles ahead.  Thompson Square is definitely a duo to keep your eye on.  They may be new but they are definitely proving themselves to be an experienced duo who is quickly making their mark in the world of country music.

One of our lucky readers won a VIP Rascal Flatts Concert Package which included a Meet & Greet with the band thanks to our friends at JCPenney!!!  Kelly enjoyed the Nothing Like This tour stop in New Orleans.  Here’s what she had to say about her experience:

New Orleans, home of Mardi Gras, muffalettas, jazz, beignets, and Burbon Street… I recently spent a weekend down there for the first time, and the highlight of my trip was seeing one of the greatest country acts in the business. After spending two and a half days playing tourist, it was finally time to see Rascal Flatts –the reason I decided to take the weekend trip in the first place. Not only did I win tickets and Meet and Greets from Country Music Rocks, I won the JC Penny VIP experience as well. The JC Penny experience treats you to a buffet of delicious food (my favorite were the freshly made quesadillas), drinks, and gift bags. It was also great to meet and interact with other Rascal Flatts fans while waiting for the meet and greet to begin.

The meet and greet was the highlight of my night! Since the show was in New Orleans, I felt it only appropriate to bring Gary, Joe Don, and Jay beads that I had caught from the St. Patrick’s Day Parade floats the day before. The boys were good sports about wearing the beads in my picture. The best part about the entire meet and greet experience was that I was able to bring one of my best friends with me, and she got her picture with the guys too!

As if the night could not get any better, it was show time! Luke Bryan did a phenomenal job opening the show, singing favorites like, “All My Friends Say,” and “Rain is a Good Thing,” and even playing his brand new single, “Country Girl Shake it for Me,” which was well received by the audience.

Finally, it was time for Rascal Flatts to come out and rock the city of New Orleans! They opened the show with “Bob That Head.” The crowd was instantly out of their seats and singing along to every word. Later in the show, the crowd was also treated to a surprise guest, JC Badoo –a 15-year-old former contestant from the 2011 American Idol season. He accompanied the guys during”Bless the Broken Road.”

In honor of their ten year anniversary as a trio, Rascal Flatts took their fans on a journey of the last decade of the trio’s music. The set list consisted of hits such as “Praying For Daylight,” “I Melt,” my personal favorite, “Feels Like Today,” “Me and My Gang,” “Take Me There,” “Unstoppable,” their most recent number one, “Why Wait,” and lots more.

Throughout the show, fellow fans handed Gary, Joe Don, and Jay, various beads –almost every type of Mardi Gras beads you can imagine, and the boys wore them with a smile. The spirit of New Orleans could be felt throughout the arena. I think it also added to the insanely remarkable show put on by the country trio.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. After spending a great weekend in New Orleans, the cherry on top was definitely seeing Gary, Joe Don, and Jay –and getting the opportunity to meet them!

Be sure to stay tuned to CountryMusicRocks.net because you never know when we will have more opportunities coming up for you to win an experience just like Kelly’s!!  Also be sure to visit JCPenney.com and find an outfit for your next concert or event!
