Check out the performances last night featuring Tim McGraw & Carrie Underwood singing alongside American Idol Finalist Lauren Alaina and the new American Idol Champion Scotty McCreery. 

The season finale of American Idol airs tonight on FOX starting at 8PM.  Finalists Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina will be giving a final performance this evening but they won’t be standing on stage alone.  Tim McGraw will accompany Scotty McCreery for a duet while Carrie Underwood will sing alongside Lauren Alaina.  

Several other performances will be impact the 2-hour season finale.  Be sure to tune-in tonight the American Idol Season Finale starting at 8pm ET/PT on FOX. 
American Idol is going country as finalists Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery compete this week for the winning American Idol title.  Both Lauren & Scotty will be singing three songs each on Tuesday starting at 8pm on Fox.  Carrie Underwood, Idol’s season 4 winner, will chose one of the songs for Lauren to sing while George Strait will be choosing one of Scotty’s song to perform.  Both competitors will also sing a favorite song of their choice as well as a song from Idol’s producers.

Be sure to tune-in tomorrow night at 8pm on FOX and see what Carrie & George choose for Lauren and Scotty. 

With their current single, “You Lie,” now in the Top 10 at Country radio, Republic Nashville’s The Band Perry got a big surprise last night when music executive and in-house Idol mentor, Jimmy Lovine, chose their Grammy-nominated hit, “If I Die Young,” for American Idol semi-finalist Lauren Alaina to sing.

“Hearing, ‘If I Die Young,’ on Idol was a proud moment,” said The Band Perry. “It’s so exciting to see a song we wrote in our basement walk its way onto one of America’s biggest stages. We wish Lauren much luck in the competition and thank her for lending such a sweet voice to our song.”
“If I Die Young,” reached #1 on the Country radio charts and was certified Platinum for selling over 1 MILLION copies.

American Idol went a little country last night as two of the final three contestants choose country songs.  Scotty McCreery choose the popular hit song “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not” by duo Thompson Square as well as Lonestar’s “Amazed” and Kenny Roger’s “She Believes In Me”.  Lauren Alaina also kept with the country music momentum and chose The Band Perry’s “If I Die Young”, Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance” and Faith Hill’s “Wild One”.
