ACM, CMT and ACA-nominated duo Love and Theft (Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson) achieved one of their career goals today. They received the news that their RCA debut single, “Angel Eyes,” has been Certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, selling in excess of 500,000 downloads.
“Ever since I started playing music, it has been a dream of mine to have a song or album go gold,” says Eric. “Thank you to everyone who made this happen for us.” Stephen adds, “Holy Moly! We are so excited about our first ever gold single. Anytime people spend their hard earned money, it’s an honor and we are truly humbled.”
“Angel Eyes” is Love and Theft’s lead single from their self-titled album, which debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. “Angel Eyes” was co-written by Jeff Coplan, Eric Paslay and Eric Gunderson. The song holds the No. 2 position this week on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and Country Aircheck and is No. 6 this week on the Billboard Digital Country Songs chart. The music video for “Angel Eyes” is rapidly approaching two million views on VEVO.com.
